SWIMirl

HONG KONG ARCHITECTURE BIENNALE 2022 | IMMERSIVE ART FILM

SWIMirl is a cinematic and spatial installation showing at the Hong Kong Shenzhen Bi-City Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism (Hong Kong). Created in collaboration with Robert Bourke Architects an co-produced with Areaman Productions, the piece responds to the Biennale’s theme entitled ‘Seeds of Resilience’. Participants proposed ways that worldwide citizens can cope with contemporary urban challenges such as socio-political flux, global pandemics and the climate and biodiversity crisis.

The immersive dgtl installation offers a transcendent experience of Dublin Bay for the people of Hong Kong. During the pandemic, Dubliners turned to wild swimming in droves seeking warmth, connection and shared experiences in the cold waters of the Irish sea. It has continued beyond lockdown to become a popular activity for solace and sustenance in navigating life’s pressures - for Hong Kong, a utopia on faraway shores to long for.

WOMAN AND CHILD

SAFE IRELAND | TV COMMERCIAL

"Nollaig na mBan"  is the Irish for "Women's Christmas". Celebrated on the 6th of January, the last day of Christmas, it's historically the day women take off to share a whiskey with friends after the hard work in the home over the period. The campaign featured a 60-second short film with 30-second cut downs for broadcast and digital launched on the 6th to raise awareness around coercive control. The campaign also saw the film projected onto  Dublin's General Post Office and a domestic home in an affluent suburban area as part of a Herstory light show to bring the campaign into the community. The film was screened on the 9 o'clock news as a feature in the campaign in which I was interviewed along with the
Safe Ireland team.
